“Phase of something in between” was a play with the spatial potentials of painting and the border between painting, sculpture, and installation. Transferring simple materials such as paper and clay to something new and complex was my aim. I also focused on the use of the tonal relationship between black and white. The title came from my interest in Nobuo Sekine “Phase of Nothingness” and the idea of what we see in an artwork that is all, no hidden concept behind the work.
